Forensic Science

Forensic Science Elective

Welcome to Forensic Science! Simply put, Forensic Science is the application of scientific knowledge and methodology to matters of the law. It is a very broad and growing field that includes biologists, anthropologists, chemists, physicists, and engineers, to name a few. Forensic Scientists may collect evidence at a crime scene, analyze evidence in a laboratory, reconstruct a crime scene with law enforcement, write reports, or testify in court as an Expert Witness. In this elective class, we will explore the methods used by forensic scientists in crime scene investigation, including crime scene processing and reconstruction, fingerprint, hair, and fiber analysis, blood analysis, chromatography, and more. Students will have the opportunity to use forensic skills to collect and analyze evidence to develop theories about how a crime was committed. If you would like to know more, visit Ms. Hansell’s Forensic Science Website by going on WRMS staff/faculty page. Click on Ms. Hansell’s name under science then, click the Forensic Science Site Link. You may also come ask me questions. I look forward to seeing many of you next school year in Forensics.
